For nine days in March 2016, I was hosted as an artist-in-residence at Have Company, in Grand Rapids, MI. The residency required me to host an event which would be open to the public. The challenge lead to the development of the Our Stories in Other Voices workshop, for which I created a 63 page hand-bound workbook of the same name. When I wasn't in the shop cutting down pages and sewing spines, I wandered around Grand Rapids, even eventually finding myself in Detroit, MI. My time at Have Company gave me a great sense of adventure and mental clarity that I feel was reflected in the images I made there. The scale shifted dramatically; the lines flow from edge to edge without as though to imply that they could go on forever...
