Residency: Bunker Projects 2016

Bunker Projects is an artist-in-residency & gallery space located in the Garfield/Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. I was invited to the residency during the summer of 2016, which would mark my first major move out of NYC since 2009. Affected by separation, solitude and the unknown, I found myself once again drawn to the concepts of migration and home. What does it mean to make a home for oneself? What does it mean to lose one?
The selections below feature paintings and letters written during my residency, as well as works produced on reclaimed windows, sourced from within city limits. In a time in which repurposed home-materials are so coveted, we must remember that these items once had owners and an origin story.
